Nice Looking Blank Covers?

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you have seen or used any decorative or a blank cover that blends in better than the norm. Specificly a 4" round cover for those once in a while old work situations when you absolutly have to leave a JB where it is for access.

Thanks, Dave

The ones I use are white painted metal and perfectly flat, with about a 1/8" bevel around the edge.
If I had to guess I'd say the were Mulberry.

No we usually leave them exposed and buy the customer a nice plant to sit in front of it.

Thanks guys,
Thats pretty much what I thought. Those are the ones I have always used too the metal and the plastic.

Brock, If there is a cover on the ceiling, I can hear it now " Hey why is there a plant on your ceiling? Hmm I don't know, The electritian installed it there..."

The plastic one's from Arlington are the one's I use now. I used to use the Mulberry one's, but I like the Arlington one's now for a couple reasons. First, they have no fasteners on the face. You attach a strap, and then the cover clips onto the strap. Second, they're pre-textured to accept paint well. Third, they're plastic, so they can't get bent up accidentally on the truck.

I have only ran into this twice now and it was in a ceiling, semed like a good place for a smoke detector to me.

WE did something similar when fishing a line across a finished basement ceiling. We needed an "access point" to get the job done, so we cut a round hole in the ceiling, (just outside a "bedroom" door), completed our task, then plugged the hole with a box and a smoke detector.

Customer got a bonus smoke, and we got the job done under budget!

Yup, that's how it's done.

The blank plate is your friend.

The other "trick" I've used is to put a regular plate on the box then install a small HVAC grill over the plate.

For some reason, your eye is so used to seeing HVAC registers in the ceiling, it doesn't look out of the ordinary at all.

The smoke detector idea is a good one though!

Thanks again guys, Some good ideas here!
Md, I like those! I think the biggest eye sore with blank covers is the screws.
That smoke detector one I have done in the past too deffinetly a good one I must have been having a brain fart I forgot all about it
Greg, thats a good one, I never thought of that, yup people don't even think twice when they see a register.
