New Line Break Detector 120v
Anyone use this device to find a broke hot or neutral in a house??? Supposedly you just plug it it and go around with the transmitter like a metal detector to tell you where the break is behind the wall. Has anyone used this??? I think it is about a $1000 and it would sure save alot of time but is that what we want??

Re: New Line Break Detector 120v
for a thousand bucks take into consideration the number of broken or open line calls you get..... its rare to find an open just in a wall for no reason, i have been on calls where someone spliced a fly tap in a concrete pad and over time it opened, your new meter would find that in a minute but really if you think about it , you would already know that. In that case I just re fed the circuit, but 9 times out of ten the open is due to a conductor that detached from a device or opened in a bad pigtail splice. Its like finding a needle in a haystack but common sense always took me to the kitchen where the 70 year old knob and tube was doing its best to supply modern day appliances, usually hit the jackpot there.....

If you get that type of call, I would look to rent one rather than drop $1k.
