New Construction, Jobsite Cleanup.
Here's something I've only tried once so far....
When you're drilling out a new home for wiring, there's tons of wood shavings. Sweeping up at the end of the day does okay, but you're still left withe the wood chips filling the stud bays. I got an 'el cheapo electric leaf blower at Lowe's for 69 bucks, and I cleaned up with that. It not only took 1/2 the normal time, when compared with sweeping, it did a much better job. Granted, if there's anyone else working when you're cleaning up with that method, they'd be pretty ticked off. Just thought I'd pass it along if anyone cares. I'm always looking to repurpose items for my own use in the electrical trade to make my life easier. Last edited by mdshunk; 11-14-2006 at 06:22 PM. |

I do that to my houses before insulation and drywall. I strongly recommend a dust mask....

Md,
If you ever move down south I will gladly use you on my houses. It is nice to hear from someone willing to clean up after themselves. It is usually very hit or miss around here.

Re: New Construction, Jobsite Cleanup.
great minds think alike. if i'm doing remodel work and cutting in somebodys driveway, or new construction to clean off the subfloor, etc. i'm not afraid to whip it out. customers usually say something like: "most impressive"

Re: New Construction, Jobsite Cleanup.
Wondering if a leaf sucker would work instead of a leaf blower? They have some new ones out now that suck leaves up and deposit into a bag. They are supposed to grind up the leaves too so I'm not sure if that would work in your case. Worth a try I guess.

They have combo units that do both, I own a B&D unit that does however at the risk of getting shot here; If you are going to the bother to hook up a blower why not just use a shop vac? Cleans as well plus all the chips are picked up at same time?
