My Newest Trick!

I hate and will spend way to long exploring every option before I cut a hole in dry wall, But some times it is absolutely unavoidable. So now I use my six or four inch hole saw when ever I have to make a hole. ANd when I cut the hole I have a half an old basketball between the drill and the hole saw to catch almost all of the dust. It sure makes the patches easier to fix for whom ever does it. I always have scraps of wood so I stick a few small pieces' up in the ceiling so I can screw the peice of dry wall back. And to get on both side of a 2 by 12 I use the six inch hole saw in the middle and have a couple inches on each side of the wood! I have done this a few time the last couple of months, and it is great not useing a key hole saw above your head on a ceiling! good luck!bk.

I have a similar trick, but I use things I bought. Pictured below is my typical rig for drilling for recessed lights. It is Rack-a-Tiers "driller's dust bowl" and my Lennox 6-5/8" hole saw in my cordless drill. It's nice to not have to eat drywall dust.

Well, that's how I normally ended up looking. Is that you, by the way? If so, you're way uglier than I imagined.
