Line V. Relay W/ Low V. Coil

I need to find a reasonably priced relay to switch 240v load. (EWH) Control Voltage is 12 or 24 VDC. Need a relay that has a partition or enclosure to isolate hi & lo voltages. Without costing a fortune. Is anyone familiar with a relay similar to door bell XFMR's, where the low voltage connection is on the exterior of the box and the line voltage connection is inside the box? Maybe my next invention?

A barrier is not required when both high and low voltage serves the same device, such as the contactor in this case. For an EWH, one of these babies ought to do the trick, for 15 dollars:

And, the enclosure to put it in, for 7 dollars:

1/4 inch seperation is required between the line and low volt wires. If the low volt is a class two or three source.

Re: Line V. Relay W/ Low V. Coil

Thanks for the replies. I thought it was a new requirement to isolate low v from high. But I have been unable to find it. Problem solved.

Nope not a clue. Just by deductive reasoning I noticed your numbers were "off". I treat the codebook as a minimun guide and not as absolute.

Carry On!

Re: Line V. Relay W/ Low V. Coil

You guys ever use these? RIB "relay in a box"

I used to work for a control contractor. We used these to operate stuff like exaust fans, electric dampers, motors, lighting, etc off digital low voltage control panels. They mount to a box on a 1/2" K.O. The low voltage stays seperate from the line voltage. Available in every configuration you can think of.

They are from http://www.functionaldevices.com/
