Re: Inspector!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's prob the same as or close to the states. Here in the U.S the states that do not have the Uniform Construction Code adopted and do not regulate electrical inspectors you only need to take and pass the National Certification for Construction Code Inspectors and you can work for a third party inspection firm. The test is broken down in 3 parts: 2A (Electrical 1&2 Family dwellings) 2B (Electrical General) and 2C (Electrical plans examiner) You can work with just 2A & 2B but you cannot reveiw plans submitted by an architect, which limits you to small commercial and not more than a two family dwelling. The power companies will not accept you as an approved inspector until the exams are taken and passed. Now where they do regulate construction code officials its pretty much the same thing but you have to document your competency to the Dept of Labor or Division of community affairs first, which they will make a decision to even allow you to test, example: In PA I got mine before The UCC so all I had to do was show the state (when they did get it) that I had taken them all and passed them with no lawsuits for poor professional performance and I got my inspectors license in PA, now NJ on the other hand wanted me to document and prove 10 years minimum as a contractor (which i was lucky because i hold a NJ elect license) and the process took about a half a year then they allowed me to take the NJ test... Thats the basics of it, you can go to NCPCCI to find out more, it stands for National certification program for construction code inspectors... I'm not practicing, I hung up the clipboard a while ago and picked up my tool bag again, the politics are a bunch of bull sometimes, I was a city inspector/ plans examiner for 2 years and couldnt take the hippocrits crap anymore, I wont mention any names to protect the innocent..... But good luck too ya... As far as the test material, My best advice is know your codebook better than you know yer best freind and get ready for a lot of math, demand factors, derating etc,,,,, And if you ever come to inspect any of my work, Dont gimme a hard time, I eat inspectors for lunch... LOL j/k, You can do it... Go get em

Re: Inspector!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I lived in Toronto you could not be Straight, White or Male and expect to get hired by any organization funded or controlled by the Government
