I Prefer 120/240V
Why do some refer to it as 120/240..and others 110/220
Does it have something to do with residential versus commercial? |

120/240 vac is the standard and is commonly used for residential and some commercial services. 120/208 and 277/480 are 3 phase “Y” with a neutral. These are used mostly as commercial and industrial services.

Re: I Prefer 120/240V
HAHA
the reason some call it 110/220 and some call it 120/240 is a matter of how old they are ... when I was a kid [don't ask when ...] standard voltage was 110 volts. Due to increasing loads, the power companies have boosted secondary voltages to higher levels to reduce stress on our transmission system. Many places have 125 volts standard, and 130 is not uncommon. The original standard was 100 volts, so this creeping increase has been going on for a long time. Doesn't matter what you call it, though |
