How Do I Get A Philadelphia Electrical License?

I am at a total loss !!! I am a licensed NJ electrician trying to get licensed in the city of Philadelphia. I spoke to the city multiple times and I even went down there and they do not even have the proper information on the company that gives the electrical exam. Does anybody know who to contact or what to do ?? I would greatly appreciate any help on this matter. Thank you.

OK go across the PA state line and stop at the first grocery store. Park your car. Go inside and find the cereal isle. Buy a box of Count Chocula. Open it and in the bottom you will find a coupon for a free Elect contractor license. Fill it out and mail it to General Mills and wait.

OR I heard one guy found one as a free surprise in a box of cracker-jacks.

Good luck with that license. I tried to get a Pittsburgh license. I've been a contractor for almost 8 years now and I'm still 10 years away from qualifying to take the test.

first link goes to a electrical resources page with a licensing per state drop menu, the second link goes to the sitemap with individual cities.

doesn't look like you need a license in Phil. but check it out too.

Re: How Do I Get A Philadelphia Electrical License?

Hello,
I'm a systems techician for Bristol Myers. Went to a trade school and learned all the power plant trades; also earning a BSEE in college, senior year. My expertise has been control systems and would like to get a license for elecrical and plumbing so I can lagitimately earn money with side jobs. Also I've been looking into working at Home Depot or Lowe's part time and noticed on the application that they asked if I have a license. I was wondering what steps I need to make before I can be licensed. I saw something about Business tax ID, business privelege license, etc.
Can anyone help with what to do and how to go about it.
