I'm just assuming he already can, by some means, if the request is there, and they apparently make plates like that (just in stainless steel)

Its just a wide-ass single gang plate, its not a double gang plate.

If he doesn't want a space beside the switch then put in a single gang box and patch the wall, or put in a lighting control system and use the second half for your keypad.

Hmmmm, looks like a good place for a GFI , sounds to me the HO s beat on this one. Only other option and keeping the HO happy with one switch is swap out the box to a single gang and repair/paint the drywall. This type of drywall repair is easy and fairly quick, and it still makes you money. I charge my normal hourly rate until i am finished.

Order the plate and paint it white with some nice plastic-adhering spray paint.

A two gang-sized plate will cover a 4" square cutout. If you have to open a wall up enough to replace a mud ring with a single, a plate that size keeps you from having to repair the wall.
