Hdpe

Does anyone have experience with HDPE used as conduit? Is it UL approved?

Re: Hdpe

I know of a lot of people that use HDPE for electrical conduit. There are a lot of benefits to it. Especially if there is a chance that this line will be in service for some time.
There are some resins that are UL approved. See the link in the above post.

What sizes of pipe and how long are the runs?

When you adapt to PVC for fittings, 90's etc, you must use heat shrink tube on the connections. HDPE fits into the PVC fittings but glue won't hold it.

Re: Hdpe

Because of the flexibility of HDPE you often don't need fittings. If you do, you may heat fuse HDPE fittings to the pipe. It is leak free and becomes one with the pipe. The fusion will be as strong or stronger than the pipe itself
I am not sure why you would want to use pvc fittings with HDPE pipe. Is there a requirement to do so?

Re: Hdpe

You usually need to transition to PVC when you are entering the building to get a threaded end to attach to a box, or a glued end to enter a LB, etc.

We have used those threaded aluminum couplers, one end threads right over the HDPE and the other end you can thread a PVC male terminal adapter end into.
