Re: Gauge Size
You know .. normally i'm not one for bashing other people personally ( .. i leave that to some of the other pros that inhabit this site
) .. but Mike .. are you really that arrogant? We're more or less all professionals here .. most all of us have done the schooling, done the crap apprentice work, blown up our fair share of transformers, and learned the best way to make it in our chosen profession. You're probably an awesome industrial electrician .. but don't try and tell a 17 year veteran of the residential end of this industry how to wire a house .. because when it comes to that kind of stuff ...I'VE been there .. and I'VE done that. |

A slightly larger conduit may be helpful if you intend to expand on the sub panel in the future but look at your realistic needs now and add the wish list to it before installing the conduit. From a wood butchers point of view a 1 1/2" conduit may be a little much for drilling through the studs if they are 2x4. there won't be much left of the stud and you may get into trouble with the building inspector if you drill through jacks under windows stc. Re: Gauge Size
I find the larger wires are harder to bend or work with. If a #6 would pass inspection then I would use it
