Gasoline Prices

If you thought gasoline prices are so high try buying trim kits for recessed lights what the H! In doing my project at home I put in between 50 - 56 recessed lights ( Lightolier ) the trim kit and bulb are 2 1/2 times the amount I paid for the rough in cans Talk about having a gun held to your back Anyone know of any generic trims that will work? 2000 series, 4" openings.

Re: Gasoline Prices

I came across these guys on ebay the other day while looking for 6" trim for a house we're doing (32 recessed lights). It's not such a great deal if you buy one due to shipping but the more you buy, it's an excellent deal since each additional unit is $1 for shipping.

4" white trim

Re: Gasoline Prices

Yeah, the prices on the trims can be an eye opener. Put some pewter one's in a few weeks ago (maybe they were brushed nickel), and they were 40 bucks each, my cost. Put some bright brass one's in last year (real brass, mind you) and they were 50 couple bucks each, my cost. The "standard" white trim is maybe 4 bucks.

4" LOL trims are ungodly expensive. Which is why I rarely use them.

I myself do not know of a generic replacement.

Dust, I get this from that Ebay ad:

"If you can not see the description, please use different web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Netscape"

Sorry Mr. Ebay seller. I don't use IE for nobody.

What do those trims fit anyway?

I have a strong feeling they are a case of "You get what you pay for".

Ok thanks. I pd. 30 dollars and change for standard white trim and 50 watt halogen bulbs. They look good though.

Light Trim
Im In And out of Home depot,Lowes etc 6/10 times a week . i have seen and bought contractor packs. 8 pk w/trim 6" & 4" for less than
$20.00 all 8 w/trim. Its Hard to toss out a brand new can fixture, so i have apx 30 w/no trim. 1 trim cost more than the complete box of 8
With trim ???? local lowes just cleaned shelves bought 6" brushed alum.
trim kit 6 for 12.00 saving them for ??? I guess im a junk man ..

Re: Gasoline Prices

What many people don't understand is that the trims are very often specific to the brand (and sometimes model) of the can. You can't normally use another manufacturer's trim on another's cans, and some trims from the same manufacturer won't work with certain models or lamp combinations. The rule of thumb is, you need to stick with the same brand trims.

It won't let me copy/paste.

Says it's powder coated steel, fits most brands of 4" cans such as Halo and Juno, 2 year warranty.

At the moment, yes. Twenty years from now we'll be walking in older homes and talking about the "turn of the century can lighting" and how it dates the home.
