Extension Cord Repairs

Is there a real good way to make repairs to extension cords?

I have a pretty new 12/3, about 75 feet long that my laborer just cut 6 feet off of and the only repair plugs I can find are those cheap things at HD.

Are there any repair ends that are water prooof and OSHA approved?

Marine ends should get you there, no problem. Most anything ABYC/NMMA/CE should get you past NEC/UL/OSHA.

Hubbell makes some nice ones, you should be able to find them at an electrical supplier or possibly Grainger.

The HD crap sucks(as everyone knows) and yet they charge twice as much. But most any cord cap will be as waterproof as the connection between the male and female ends.
All of them are UL listed(unless you made it yourself) and to make it OSHA approved you need to plug into a GFCI receptacle or equivalent.
