English 3ph Db Losing Neutral Connection

we have had a instance where a 3 ph db has lost its neutral and has spiked the 240v single phase side damaging the ups and fluorecent fittings, is this possible? and would you get a higher voltage down the sp side?

Yes, it is possible. That's what happens when you have an open neutral.

Re: English 3ph Db Losing Neutral Connection

Yes, very possible. If you have circuits that share a neutral and the neutral breaks you will get full voltage to the devices. If your main neutral breaks, all the circuts are affected.

Line 1 to neutral = 120v
Line 2 to neutral = 120v Line 1 and 2 sharing a neutral

Neutral breaks !

Line 1 to line 2 = 240v Acts like a series circuit, voltage at each device depends on it's resistance.
