Electrician Wana-be's
Why Are So Many Younger Guys Who Call Themselves Electricians Just Wire Pullers? It Took Me Ten Tears To Call Myself An Electrician. Me And Another "foreman" Went To A Call Yesterday To Look At An Old Dry Type Sprnkler System. Well He Walked In Looked At It And Said Leave It To The Sprinkler Man. I Got In My Truck Left And Called The Supervisor Told Him I Was Going Back By Myself. I Did And I Fixed It And Am Proud Of What I Was Able To Do. But To Hear The Younger "foreman" Talk He Is The Man. I Dont Know I Was Brought Up The Hard Way I Guess...........just Aggravated In South Carolina.

Re: Electrician Wana-be's
i dont think that it is fair to judge all of the young guys. i am 23 and have my contractors license. it isnt an easy thing to do! but i do every job the same way and that is the same quality that i would do for my own house or better. when i go on calls i am always fixing some lazy electricians work.

Wait a minute. Ryan Jackson is young enough to be my kid, (he's not), and I can't hold a candle to him, yet I do know my way around.
For sure the longer you are in the trade, the more you are going to pick up (same for all occupations). I guess it just depends on the individual as to how good they can become. |

Now macmikeman, I don't think Ryan is the type of guy the OP is referring to.
I do think we ALL know the type he IS referring to.

Re: Electrician Wana-be's
It all has to do with training, knowledge, experience and commonsense. The more a person has of each of these qualities the better the craftsman.

Re: Electrician Wana-be's
I have a 2nd year apprentice that I will rate as an example.
On 0-10 scale: Training-------------3 Knowledge----------1 Experience----------2 Commonsense-------1 How do you rate yourself? Honestly |
