Electrican Rates By State

Do these numbers seem high or low in your experience:
Occupation Selected: Electricians
http://www.starledger.com/str/indexp...frmocc=47-2111

(Rank) - State - Annual Pay
(2) - NJ - $60,220

A bit low...closer to 75k on average.

NEXT!

This is a tough one. PA is 11th, at $52,410. Drive a bit north of me, and that's pretty low. Drive a bit west of me, and that's sorta high. It's about right on for were I'm at, for all except new work resi guys. I think romex ropers in new work make about 50 cents more than the people making burgers at McDonald's.

I earn just over 56k a year.

That evens out to about 23k after taxes.

Hey, this is NJ.

Btw, I read today that Corzine's going to need another 8-10 billion to fix all the bridges that aren't broke.

With some OT, you could break the barrier

If I took some days off and left early I would do better than they posted. I will say I do get $2.00 over scale and I get paid for some OT that I dont really work.

I don't get paid above scale, but I am 6k over that list and a JW makes 15k more per year(based on 2k hours per year, no overtime)

I also get paid for overtime I don't work

I'm not in the union and I only get paid for the OT I work...WTF? Isn't getting paid for hours not worked kind of like stealing??? Or is it OK if you are union. Do you get away with murder to?

I also get two weeks paid vacation, a company credit card for gas and travel expenses, a card for on the job material purchases,a clothing allowance, and the full time use of a company truck. Not to mention I get paid for going to classes/seminars, we get an employee of the month bonus and company sponsered events. NO it isnt stealing, its an employers way of taking care of the guys that produce for the company.
Oh and I almost forgot, I get a handtool allowance.

I don't get a handtool allowance or an "employee of the month" bonus. Wouldn't want the second one--that sounds gay. BUT i DAMN WELL DON'T HAVE TO PAY DUES TO WORK!!!! And I'm not a socialist... And I'm not going to vote for Shrillary next Nov., are you? And I damn sure don't steal by padding the books. I get every thing else on your little list and a little sense of pride for participating every day in the free market. The carpenters #25 has hired every bum in Atlanta to do a little picket line outside the project we are on now... they get (and yes, this does include illegal aliens) a sandwich and $5 for three hours of picketing. Does anyone else see the irony in this. You never see the IBEW picketing in ATL. I wonder why.

Maybe when you get off work, you should join the picket line for a free sandwich? You could salt the picket line, and try to organize them into picket line walkers local #1.

If I get paid 40% more than what that list says I should, is that also stealing?

No money for tools broken or worn out while doing someone elses work, that sucks.

No bonuses for being your best or just plain being safe, that sucks(I mean "that's gay")

And your pay falls in where on that scale?
I guess I only mention pay on the check and not the total package.

This list has me at 39K and my total package(meaning everything my employer pays for me) is nearly double that number at 72K
(I don't pay for any insurance or any retirement and am very well covered)

I work for a division of EMCOR which is the largest electrical (and mechanical) contractor in America, do you really think they care about a few hundred dollars here and there? Calling someone a thief is pretty bold words, I've never stolen from a boss in my life.

So who are you voting for this election and why? And how do you define a union worker as socialist? Because we are smart? in my local we are 2500 strong which gives each of us excellent medical benefits and several millions a year into a pension.

Take your pride of "free enterprise" home everyday and remember your getting hosed. We all live in the same world jack@ss, just some of us know how to make the best of it.

Their numbers are not close for plumbers in Illinois.

EMCOR is a monster! Large does not describe them adequately.
