Electrical Problems

I'm working on an old house doing the drywall, painting, and moulding. The owner has hired an electrician to come out and re-wire the house completely. After I finished painting, 3 of the workers came out and put up 4 ceiling fans and maybe 6 plugs in an 8 hour period. The fans are remote controlled by the way. When more than 1 light is on in any given room, the lights flicker. You flip a switch in another room and it turns on the fan in a different room. I was also working on putting down plywood in the house and there are some wires coming up through the floor in the laundry room. A worker came in and said, those wires might be hot, and then turned around and left. All the wires under the house are dragging the ground and a few are just laying there just bare wire. I was in a bathroom painting the celing and I had a light hung up on the electrical wire coming out of the box in the ceiling and it sparked. This has been going on for about a week now and the electricians have not showed back up. I am not an electrician and don't claim to be but that is just completely dangerous. Also there is a well pump that is about 125 feet away from the outside breaker box and it was working fine until they installed the new wire. It will stay on for about 30 seconds then flip the breaker. It has a fuse panel outside and the fuses keep blowing. Anyway I just thought I would share the stupidity of the electricians. Does anyone know why the lights flicker and fans come on in different rooms?

Re: Electrical Problems

Lights flickering?? I don't know..

Fan coming on in another room? Yeah, they've got the "feed out" and the "switch leg" mixed up. Simple fix.

Sounds like you've got a batch of monkies working on that job. Time to talk with the GC or homeowner, I should think.

Re: Electrical Problems

The codes are all set to the same factory settings. They have to change the codes for two of the fans & remotes.
