Does Anyone Have Greenlee Crimping Tools

I just got a Greenlee crimping tool, K09-2gl. It crimps from #8 awg to 4/0 awg. Trouble is I found out it only does copper wire. Anyone ever use greenlee crimpers? Is it possible to use on aluminum, it say not to. I was hoping to use on overhead SE cable to make connection easier after a service change.

I don't own one, but the poco here uses Greenlee gators for alum crimp connections on service drops, and laterals all the time. I would tend to trust the company though if they say not to do it.

You got the wrong crimper to do service connections. You need the cimper with the "O" , "D3" and "WG - 5/8" crimping holes to do service taps (h-taps, tube sleeves, and Insul-links). That one you got does the diamond crimp and is ONLY suitable for copper. Please don't use it on aluminium.

Re: Does Anyone Have Greenlee Crimping Tools

Thanks for the info. I plan on using on copper only, just as they recommend. They were bought by my soon to be former company. And since they have bought our jobs out they will let us take all our tools when we leave. Which will be in about 2 1/2 months or so. So I will have a nice set of tools when I leave.
