Criminal Backgrounds

I am looking to hire several Electricians to teach an ELE program in Philadelphia. I have two questions
1. Does a criminal background hinder someone form working in this field?
2. Can someone with a criminal background get work?

No, but it does sorely limit where and for whom.

Any certain type of work? I ate at Long John Silver's yesterday evening, and I'm pretty sure most of the people working there might have had a criminal background, so I guess the answer is yes.

Exactly what did you do, anyhow?

I always associate tattoo's on the face with criminal backrounds.

Criminal backgrounds are less of a problem in new construction. Remodelers and service companies are working in houses people live in. That's a problem.

Just make sure they havent committed Moral Turbitude!

Wait, I think all my guys have committed that?

Was anyone else sweating that when they saw that as an exclusion for taking M.E.test??? I know some of you were a little crazy in your youth.

Long John Silver's is great, I've been wanting it since reading this post (should have went today, no meat Friday), I would also like some salisbury steaks. Anybody remember Arthur Treacher's Fish and Chips, we used to have quite a few of them out here, they're all gone now, I miss them.

On that criminal backround thing, there are a tons of places you won't be able to work if you have a criminal history, first one that comes to mind is a Nuclear facility, they check, can't go in to work if you have certain types of convictions, DUI's are okay.

I worked for a master electrician that did about 3 years for selling coke. He's a very respectable citizen now but when we did work on military bases he was not allowed on. That was kind of a problem.
