Maybe so, but I made no attempt to diagnose or fix the problem other then disabling that particular circuit, the homeowner didnt want me to.

Testing such a circuit for current leakage to ground is a very elementary procedure that any 16 year old electricity/electronics student could do with ease. Apparently you didn't do that; probably I wouldn't have either unless specifically asked by the HO to troubleshoot high-usage problems.
Again, the answer is: Not likely, but possible.
Good luck with it.

Anywhere in thread that says homeowner wanted me to fix circuit??? No it doesnt, he did not want the security light . I simply cut the feed to it. What, should I have demanded that he let me fix it??? Its his f****g house.
The question was about current drain, again HE DID NOT WANT THE SECURITY LIGHT OK?

Nope, nor did I imply that. I was responding to your question about unwanted current usage.

Look dude, I was putting tin on the HO's garage and got shocked, I did him a solid by dropping what I was doing and making the fascia on the house not hot (two kids in the house). I had a simple live detector in the truck.

Look dude, I was freaking agreeing with you about that. Good job, right thing to do, all praise and so forth. Exactly what I would have done.
I also said that unless specifically tasked to do so by the HO, I too would have skipped any further investigation regarding current drain. And I gave you the conjecture you requested in your opening post--which is all anyone can do without being there and taking measurements.
And that gets you all prickly and hostile. And you wonder why some folks aren't interested in giving you straight answers.
Maybe we'll get along better in some other thread. I've played my part here.

I once installed shutters on a new home with aluminum windows, from an aluminum ladder. Every time I touched the window I got knocked. I tried it at each window, with, & without drill & cord, & it made no difference. The whole house aluminum skin (Thermax) was hot! I don't know what caused it for sure, but someone mentioned that a weak panel ground can sometimes act similarly. The house itself ends up being the ground for the load, if the panel is not grounded well enough.

I've also come across a house that had aluminum siding and the whole house had an electrical charge to ground. Current will take all paths to ground and eventually back to the source if the insulated conductor meant specifically for this purpose is disconnected or if it's bonded to the otherwise low-impedance path meant for carrying fault current.

lots of times those old houses have wood shakes on them and over the years wires get tucked under the butts and get painted over so you cant see them, foil faced foam goes on, you hit the wire.Or lots of those old jobs were before recessed mini's and mounting blocks, siding contacts a terminal
