Connecting Lights To A Dimmer Pack
I'm just looking for knowledge guys and trying to advise a friend who is trying to purchase gear to connect the overhead lights in a church to a dimmer pack system with a control board. The controller he showed me had four duplex outlets, each rated for 600w. Because of the existing overhead lighting in place, 12 in all each with about 400w of rated bulbs in place, one controller circuit would be needed for each of the 12 lights.
the question is, in order for an electrician to climb into the ceiling space and rewire each light to the dimmer pack, can he install a grounding receptacle on each run of 12-2 that comes from the light, so that it can be plugged into the dimmer pack? It sounds a little fishy-as in not right. I suppose the idea is if there is a problem with the dimmer pack, unplugging receptacles would be a lot easier to swap out units. |
