Re: Chicago License Coverage
There's no way of knowing w/o contacting the state or building department where you intend to work. There are suburbs of Chicago that don't accept a Chicago license.

Re: Chicago License Coverage
The Chicago license will be good where ever there is no license requirement.

The Chicago license should be good anywhere in the state, there was a court decision saying exactly that. .

Re: Chicago License Coverage
"At this time, in Illinois, there is no “State Electrical License” like you may find in other states. This may change in the future, but in the mean time, the Village of #######, as well as many other Illinois cities and towns, depend on municipal electrical licenses to help ensure a degree of electrical competence. ###### is one such municipality that issues electrical contractor licenses based on Illinois statute guidelines.
As might be expected, having such a diversity of licensing bodies creates a wide variety of quality levels of “licensed electrical contractor”. Because of this, many towns may or may not accept an electrical license from another municipality based on these perceived quality levels." At one time there was a Dupage IBEW site that listed each town's requirements. This was an old and probably out-of-date site. Some towns would list a Chicago license as "not accepted". I suspect because Chicago wouldn't accept the license from that town. I'm glad they changed it. I wonder if any license in IL is now accepted in Chicago? It's a strange system. I wish there was a stste license. |
