Re: Can You Smell The Smoke
Not enough information.
Just because something is 'hot' does not mean it's going to fail.

Re: Can You Smell The Smoke
It may be a lot longer than you may think and 480 sparky may have a Valid point. I have been to Infared school & was the only Infared Specialist in the plant I worked in. We had many hotspots that were alot worse than yours, that we wouldn't address until an annual shutdown which might have been months later after my tests & reports. I would even find some of the same "hotspots" from the year before that were never taken care of. On the other hand one might get worse real quick & burn out or single Phase. On real big equiptment that draws many amps, we used to open the door and put a fan on it until we could get to it.................

Re: Can You Smell The Smoke
the 194F degrees is 90C degrees. Most wire ratings for high temp wire are in this range. But that looks like it was a fuse that was at that temp so eventually it will blow if it stays at those temps for too long, from repeated fatigue.

But an Infared camera is a very helpful tool for Preventive Maintenance & whatever is found to be "hot" should be adressed sooner than later ! |
