Cable Calc.

Hi to all

I have recently been asked to complete my Keyskills Level two Maths for my college work as ive been dragging it on for some time now.

I have only one task to complete on it and it is to answer a cable calc, which confuses me oh so very much.

The question is:
Decide the maximum time a particular cable could withstand a current level, show the lines on a graph highlighting your interpretation.

1) 16mm2 PVC cable @ a current level of 400A
2) 6mm2 PVC cable @ a current level of 400A
3) 2.5mm2 PVC cable @ a current level of 50A
4) 1.5mm2 PVC cable @ a current level of 50A

And thats it, Now im not asking anyone to give me the diurect answers but in my eyes there isnt enough information to go on here, theres no information as to weather the cables are Singles, Twin, SWA or for that matter even PVC insulated, for all I know they could be MIC.

Any help would be much appreciated.

P.S. I also have a regs book to hand.

Re: Cable Calc.

Might have a little better luck with a European site. Most of us sparkies here are from North America.

Re: Cable Calc.

Looks like all the cables are PVC insulated.

And more info is needed. You need to know per say, how long a 1mmsquared PVC coated cable could withstand 1 amp(or 10 if that works better)

Probably somewhere in your reading???
