CA Lisence
Hi,
Just moved in CA from NY and gladly will take advice how to better prepare for license exam, what read / test materials are the best. In NY it's really really hard, to many prerequisites. I have an extensive experience, but probably need to organize my knowledge better for exam. Tx all Dai P.S. Also I'd like to ask pros what is the best tool to cut holes for recessed lights, I'm using Lenox hole saw, but probably on drywall you can use something nicer. Re: CA Lisence
What exam? If it isn't electrical, you might want to post in "General Discussion". If so, one of our NY guys will stop by, I'm sure.
Holesaws work just fine in drywall too.

Re: CA Lisence
Interesting that my ex got her cosmetologist NY license without any exam just after paper evaluation, but it's hard to get any construction license in NY.
Here in CA all vice versa, easy to pass electrician exam but killer for cosmetologist. Truly Republic of California. Tx all |

Re: CA Lisence
The california c10 electrical and law exams were 10 times easier than the michigan j-mens test.

Re: CA Lisence
In my humble opinion, you must go to a contractors exam school and have access to practice tests in order to pass the test in Ca.
Even if you have a friend who still has the books and tapes from when he took the test, it wont be enough. The practice tests are the key, and the schools guard those with their lives.....They don't leave the school, no cameras in the exam room...etc....It's top secret. |

Re: CA Lisence
Resently took the Arizona exam which is similar to the Ca. Did not find it easier than any other exams I have taken. The business or law exam was harder. Be sure you study the state statues.

Re: CA Lisence
I have some material that may help you with the exam. E-mail me and we can find a way to get it to you.
Now my two cents.... The Ca. C-10 is a minimum requirement to conduct electrical contracting in Ca. I did not find the exams to be difficult, however; I spent a lot of time studying and I am not intimidated by any test. With that said, I have met many electricians; some who forget more in a day, than I ever wish to learn; who say it give them fits. I must reiterate, these were extremely tallented electricians. I cannot stress this enough, these electricians are not bottoms feeders and they had trouble with the exams. Do not take it lightly. I assume that you are looking for assistance in pursuing a respectable career and for this reason I offer any assistance I can provide. Please do not think CA is giving anything away. Ca has some of the most strict contractor laws in the country. We deal with laws that are designed for the contractor to fail. We also have a very profittable market if you provide a service that is not merly " I passed a test, so give me money". When you pass the Ca minnimum requirements -the exam- we (the Contractors, Home Owners, Business Owners, people of Cali) expect that you will deliver a qaulity service. It will not be easy to establish a respectble profitable business in Ca. but it can be done. Ok; Im done.........good luck to you. Let me know what I can do to help. Re: CA Lisence
I can help . . .first . .let me state that I have an electrical market as an electrician which I have pursued for well over a decade . .and I agree that the CA . . .C-10 exam with this years test is not easy . . .NOT because
I do NOT know my market . .the elements of my trade etc etc you must understand but two things * you are dealing with an ultra-ultra liberal governmental body with a preference as to whom it would LIKE to qualify * second...and this is really all that matters . .it is NOT about your ability safely/profitably/legally/correctly conduct your electrical work . . . it is ONLY . .about you passing a test the test the test the test...period I am in the midst of getting my C-10 . . .Mother of God after reading tons and tons of this dribble it is NO small wonder droves of businesses are fleeing the state this isnt the plave to cheap out . .I went with Contractors State Licensing School . .a squeak under a grand but its got a 92% pass rate and an excellent match of home study....CD,s etxt, live class room , computer exam practice it has the program to pass a test..period I am ONLY a service electrician . .so quite a bit of the test is about that which I am NOT involved with . . .employees . .municipal projects..etc etc ad nuaseum get into a school locally and study your butt off and you'll pass if I can help imwithpug@gmail.com |
