Anyone Have A 120V Dryer?

Saw a 120 Volt dryer the other day. It didn't look very old, so I'm assuming this is not unusual. I just thought all dryers ran at 240V

Are you sure? It might have been a gas dryer.

Clothes Dryer (Gas) . . . . . . . . . 700 watts average
Clothes Dryer (Electric) . . . . . .5500 watts average

You do the math.

I own a couple of the smaller stackables. They run on 120.

I've heard they exist, but have never seen one.

In high rise condo's in Philly, where the panels are in the hallway's, and are always maxed out, people usually get 120V dryers. I heard from a couple of people that they take forever to dry clothes.

Are they common in the large cities? I have heard of them being used in Japan but never in the US.

This was not a stackable, but regular size and in the basement. Definetely not gas.

I own a 120v stackable dryer, and it takes forever to dry clothes. I think it tumbles them until the water gives up and evaporates because it's so dizzy.

Did you check the nameplate? It may of been wired wrong. Ya never know!!

I am thinking the way I would approach the problem so just bare with me here.

I once got a call from a farmer a couple years ago complaining the his milk bulk tank wasn't keeping the milk cold and did not know what was wrong. Well the problem was that he had just bought a new one and hooked up the electrical himself. Only problem was that he had wired for 120 VAC and it should have been wired for 240 VAC. Ya never Know!
