Are you new construction or remodel/repair?
Working as a sub or doing retail? Residential or commercial? |

Re: Aggrivated Beginner
No, 11 years of experience you gained from that comapny.
11 years of other trades you met what at that company, go talk to them, tell them you are out on your own, maybe they can drum up some work for you. 11 years, you have had to make contacts in other places that can give you some work. Stay tuned though, I will let the other members type in the standard answer to your question... Oh yea, congrats, your workday has just been extended to 16hour days ... no longer 8's. |

Re: Aggrivated Beginner
I'd at least get a cheap ad in the newspaper ASAP and try to drum up some service work until you can make the better contacts you desire.

Re: Aggrivated Beginner
welcome to the brotherhood of people who no longer get vacations, just days we don't get paid for not working ...
Best of luck to you. Stick it out for 2-1/2 years. After that, if you're any good, you won't be able to make the work go away. Tell EVERYBODY in the world what you do and that you are available. Give cards to EVERYONE. I mean to include the butcher, the girl at the coffee shop, that guy asleep on the park bench, the kid at the gas station, your tailor .. And engage everyone you meet, tell them what you do. Ask them if they know anyone who might need your services TODAY, next Tuesday, etc. Get an inexpensive lawn sign and stick it in your own front yard. Stop everywhere you see a dumpster. Go to lumber yards and see if you can find out who just bought big piles of 2x4s. ... and don't be shy |

I'm assuming your an electrician --- i haven't read anything to disprove or prove my assumption Go talk to some builders/remodelers. You should be knockin their doors down. Is this easier to do this wiith a business, vs. a residential prospect??? Commercial guys, help --- is it?? |
