Adding GFI's

I'm putting together bids for work and will bring subs in to do the work (permited jobs) but have a question as to code. when adding a GFI in a bathroom or kitchen, can the GFI branch off the current bathroom or kitchen circuit or does it need to be a homerun circuit (which can serve both)?

reason I ask-looking at an older property with Bussmann fuses with no room to add on. The proper info will help in pulling bids as it's a competitive process and knowing code helps get the proper bid.

Yes if the circuit is another GFI.

So basically all the circuits on this feed will be interconnected and all gfi outlets right?

Re: Adding GFI's

To do this job the right way you will have to upgrade service to a minimum 100 amps and install the new kitchen counter GFCI receptacle on a new individual 20 amp branch circuit.

Any short cuts to doing this should be covered in your local rehab code.

Re: Adding GFI's

How many receptacles do you plan on jumping off of 1 gfci home run? There is a limit, I usually pull home runs to each individual room so everything is label adequately and more user friendly on the service panel.
But since you are limited to space in the service panel the gfci plug needs to be connected to home run and then branch off of it.
