Accent Light Trouble

Hope you guys don't mind me asking a question here.

My electrical knowledge is minimal at best. I recently remodeled a 90yr old house for my mother-in-law. I installed low voltage accent lighting in two of the new kitchen cabinets. I forget the brand, but they are the puck type, that plug in and have a touch pad. The house was completely rewired, and I had the electrician install a receptical above the sink, near the ceiling, to plug these into. There is also a switched, direct wire under-cabinet light, that is mounted to the box that houses the wiring for the accent lighting. When you turn on the under-cab light it activates the accents. The under-cab light and the receptical for the accents are on two different circuits (according to the electritian). The only answer I got from him was hmmm....

Any info on the cause of this would be appreciated. Again, I am no electritian, if it don't plug in, I sub it out. If my description is unclear, or you need more info, please let me know. Thanks.

Re: Accent Light Trouble

Sounds to me the rec that the pucks lights are plugged into are also controlled by the switch. Miscomunication between someone and the electrician. Easy fix, take the switched power wire to the rec off the switched side of the switch and wire it on the oppisite terminal for constant power. The rec should live all the time and your touch pad for the puck lights should work properly. The under cabinet lights should still operate off the switch.

Thank you for your reply, however this does not seem to be the case. The pucks work whether the under-cab switch is on or off. If the pucks are already on, and you switch on the under-cab light, it kicks them to the next level. Switching on the under-cab light is somehow activating the touch-pad.

Re: Accent Light Trouble

Hmmm, sounds like you need to get someone there who can diag the circuit, hard to do on-line without seeing what is happening and seeing the wiring.
