Re: 2/0 Solid Ground Wire

I've never seen or heard of a solid conductor that big. Is this a spec on a plan or something? Why not stranded?

That's not a wire. It's a copper rod! Are you sure you don't mean #2?

Re: 2/0 Solid Ground Wire

Alright so i looked it over again and this is what i got. Aparently no solid down conductor.

7-6. Down conductors.
provide a clearance of at least 2 m (6 ft) between the overhead wire and
a. Down conductors are solid or stranded bare wire or cable made from copper, copper-clad steel, or
aluminum. For buildings or towers less than 23 m (75 ft) high, the resistance of a down conductor will
not exceed 0.176 ohms per 300 m (1000 ft), which is approximately the resistance of a #2 AWG copper
cable. For buildings or towers higher than 23 m (75 ft), resistance will not exceed 0.088 ohms per 300 m
(1000 ft), which is approximately the resistance of a 2/0 AWG copper cable. Sharp bends in down
conductors will be avoided.

My last bit of work was on a 297' Old BLAST PROOF Microwave tower that no longer uses the horns but has Cell and Vector antennas on it!
