Worth The Wage Vs Man Numbers
I know it has been hard to get good workers in Edmonton for many years. Some of the companies have hired out of country guys to fill their man numbers on larger projects that require a min daily requirement.
With the company I am working for, we have ten or so guys that are from out of country and they are getting paid a rediculous 23 bucks an hour for being first year. Some of the first and second years guys have been freaking out after becoming wise to how much these guys are making compared to their 15 to 18 bucks. Moral is low with all the apprentices I have to work with and it makes my job harder to work with a miserable guy who feels ripped off. How can contractors justify the huge differences in pay between workers when the work is at the very least, balanced. Is man numbers that important to contractors that they feel it is ok to stick it to the guys who are actually worth a great wage and opportunity? |
