Star Burst Texture

I need to repair a star burst textured ceiling. Trying to match with thinned down mud and a stiff brush looks very time consuming. I was wondering if there is a special brush or trowel used that lays out the patern in one step or is there a different application method to speed things up? I have alot of exp. matching textures, but have never seen this before, any info would be great.

Re: Star Burst Texture

I guess its a stomped texture. Ive never seen it before, kind of a 6" round repeating patern (heavy peaks).

Re: Star Burst Texture

what your looking for is a texture (brush) for lack of a better word that has a six inch round base and instead of bristles like a crows ft, has bristles more like a paint brush sticking straight up about 5". You may be able to find them in a paint store.

Re: Star Burst Texture

The regular round brush doesn't look right. All points start in the center and vein outwards. The pattern repeats almost exactly as if it were a stamp of some kind. Unfortunatly the pics I have of the texture are too large to upload here.

Re: Star Burst Texture

could it be a large natural sponge? I've seen plaster work with it that sounds like what you are talking about, but have never tried it with drywall
