Silica Sand For Texturing

I've been looking around locally for the white sand used for drywall mud. No one in my area seems to carry it, much less know what I'm after. Everyone refers me to the texture powder used in paint.

Is there a certain brand name I should ask for? Or is there an alternative?

Thanks!

steve

Isn't it masonry sand? Or are you talking about the gypsum?

Re: Silica Sand For Texturing

I was once told to look for "white quartz" sand, and later told I need silica sand. IIRC, there are there are three different grits available.
