Seam Repair

What is the best way to repair water damaged seams. The tape is/has fallen of. I've done these repairs in the past but was never fully satisfied w/ the way they came out looking. Any tips would be appreciated.

Re: Seam Repair

Call a pro. or saw/cut out bad area, install backing, tape, coat, texture.

ps, how's the snow out there? Trails here have a good base but are getting pretty hammered and it looks to be in the forties for the next three days.

Re: Seam Repair

I want to learn how to do a good job at it. The customer is always pleased with my work, but I feel that I could do better. I was looking for any tips or hints on how to do a better job.

P.S. The snow is awsome. I'm in Albuquerque, but about a three hour drive puts my in the Rockies. One of the areas thatwe ride has over 100" on the ground. It is awesome. Avalanche danger though. You ever get out here to ride? We don't relly have established trails. We use the forest service roads. Plus there is a hell of alot of excelent free riding.

Re: Seam Repair

Best tip I can give you is cut out bad area, cut some 1by4 backing and install a new piece of drywall. Before you mud you'll need to cut around new and old drywall kind of in a V shape to get rid of jagged edges. After you are done sanding take a wet sponge (not quite dripping) and blend in your edges. Texture, Prime, paint.

I've spent a little time up in Telluride area jeeping, hiking and skiing. Hopefully I'll get to go back there this summer and bring the jeep, dirt and sportbikes.
Around here there is no free-riding unless it's in a farmers field with his permission.
