Re: Scarriest Occurence While Taping
.....yeah, stilts suck. I slipped in some mud once and landed on my tailbone. ..last time on stilts.
I watched a guy up on a 24' extension ladder hand sanding some cathedral ceiling angles. ...he made the mistake of putting the ladder on visqueen ...which was protecting a polished cement floor. It slipped out from the bottom and you could see where he tried to dig his fingers into the drywall on the way down. He broke both of his wrists. ...lucky, actually. |

Re: Scarriest Occurence While Taping
One time i was working with this 18 year old guy along with a 55 year guy i was bird man [ i set the ridge rows and the high work most times ] Any way me and this 18 year guy where up on the top of the first story walking on some 2x10's setting the drip board on the facial board ,the 18 year old was using an air stapler with 3 1/2" crown staples to shoot the drip board in with ! I kept telling him to be carefully he was getting to close to his hand and moving real fast with the crown stapler! We had gotten to the end of the facial board where the miter cut meets with the rake end of the gable roof and the kid has to lean way out to get the ends nailed in place ! Then it happened WHAM HE NAILS HIS LEFT HAND THUMB FLUSH UP FLAT TO THE FACIAL WHILE HE WAS LEANING OUT OVER THE FIRST FLOOR ! He nail the thumbnail clean with both prongs of the 3 1/2 " staple and suckec it up tight to the facial board ! The nail gun went flying to the ground and i had to climb off the roof and run to my truck and get some side cutting dikes then run back up the roof ! The whole time this kid is dangling of the side of the roof with his thumb nailed to the facial board and he is hollering at me to hurry hurry

Re: Scarriest Occurence While Taping
Was taping a ceiling (working on a baker scaffold)... Jumped off and landed on a piece of 1/2" plywood... The plywood wasn't the problem - it was the 3 1/2" ardox nail that was in it. Came right through the top of my shoe!!! After I removed the board (and nail) I wrapped my foot and sock in a plastic bag and put my shoe back on (had to finish my day of work). Later at the Hospital, they said I was lucky it didn't hit a bone. Although, they said I knicked an artery because of all the blood... Hurt more a fews days after the fact!!!
