Question About Prices For Cathedral And Vaulted Ceilings
How much extra on top of the sqft price do you charge for cathedral and vaulted ceilings?

and also tray ceilings. Ive been hanging and finishing these types of ceilings for a long time just for the sqft price, but the other day i hired a new guy and he said the guy he use to work for charge an addition charge for each one.

Are you saying that you charge your regular sqft flat rate for tray ceils and vaults? I charge a number of ways for vaults trays and header/soffits. For new construction we charge like most(sqft prices). Plus for the xtra effort to hang small peices, for hanging the extra beadwork, and finishing of anything other than flatwork. |

How do figure for the extra. Do you have flat rate like some much extra for vault/trays?

On your vaults, are you bidding sqft on floor sqft or are you factoring in the pitch of the roof? And are the pitches more than 4/12? Say you lived in an area where 4/12 pitches are the norm with 7.5 or 8' walls. I could easily see why someone would just bid the straight sqft price. Not much changes and its all pretty easy to reach. A 12/12 pitch can be just about 40%more rock and screws plus set time to reach the extra height. Trays on the otherhand require atleast 25-50 percent more screws and easily twice the hang time. The finishing is easily twice the work and twice the materials. The little tray pic next to your title should easily have been twice that of a flat ceil. |
