Probably Laughable To You Pros,but....

I just got my first set of Direct corner flusher (2 " and 3" heads) a big shot mud tube and a Handle....UM How do I use them? done drywall for years with hand trowels and Knives ..Didn't come with directions ,so If can get a little help so my first job with them isn't a disaster it would be appreciated. I get the general concept of how it should work.I guess my first real question is do you have to thin the mud down to get it to suck up in to the tube? from what they told me at All-wall use the 3" first then the 2".If any body knows an online tutorial or video or wants to explain the whole process here I would be very thankful.... Thanks Jerry

Mud for sure has to be thinned quite a bit. I have never used the flushers, but I know with Tape Tech and similar, the mud has to be thinned. And more so with that type of tool. Practice, practice, practice. Just try them and if you can't get the mud to draw up the tube, thin some more. Wish I were there for support with you... You'll get it.

It's as simple as 1, 2, 3,... "http://www.all-wall.com/acatalog/canstyle.html".... I like my mud just thick enough that I'm not bustin my ass but not so thin its souping down the wall

If it is the better than ever tool brand they have online videos and tapes they can send you with instructions.

I checked the above link. It should be:

http://www.all-wall.com/acatalog/canstyle.html

Or just go to all wall, taping tools and then bottom of the page and the complete kit and then the taping guidelines.

http://www.all-wall.com/tt.php

then go to handles, of the taping system and then down load the support guide.

Oh, Sorry.... anyway, I agree, with the money were paying for tool, throwing in a set of instructions shouldn't break their bank.

Sorry mate, but in my opinion, you have wasted your money. These tools are awful.

They are cack handed and poor quality, and you have to have your mud like piss or it won't come out. One of my blokes bought them and got shot of them soon afterwards. Save your money and buy some real tools.

Sorry Tony got to disagree, for the money they're good value, and they do a good job. I bought some last year, it took me a while to get used to the tools and how thin the mud has to be, but now no probs.

If I had the choice or hand taping or using the stuff I would possibly, and only possibly give them a chance. Having been using the Apla-Tech internal gear for quite a while, in comparison, the Big Shot stuff is a bit Laurel & Hardy.

Re: Probably Laughable To You Pros,but....

Well Tony clearly doesn't like them, but there are several on here who have had great results.

Personally, I think it comes down to the size jobs you do.

The companies that make theses say they can be as productive as regular auto tools, but comparing them to Apla-Techs is like comparing a Volkswagon to a Roll Royce. Both will get you there, one does it in style.

I find them to be perfect for the remodeling and single room additions. They really speed up corner finishing. Also, if you are one that doesn't tape on a regular basis, it really keeps you moving at a respectable pace when you do have to tape.

I think everyone goes through the trial of learning how to thin and how thin to make the mud to make these work. Many use a Lambskin covered roller to apply the mud rather than the tube as that is the tool the requires the most '"knack" to work.

Other than that, I will have to disagree with Tony's assessment.

Well got to play with it a little late this afternoon.. Have to say it worked pretty slick..Mud straight out of the bucket...eek to thick... Thinned with a mountain dew 20 0z bottle of water seemed just about right for getting it to flow... The big mud tube needs a handle sticking off the tube .cause if your hands are a little slimy ... you ain't getting no where... other than the extremely sharp edges on the side of the flusher() all in all I think once I get the rhythm down this will be a pretty indispensable tool ..Thanks all ...P.s. Tony ..yeah you might be right..but as I only do about 6 or 7 drywall jobs a year this was a pretty good fit for me...

Don't get me started on Volkswagens. Here's my work van. Rather have that than a roller any day.

A good place to keep your Big Shot mud tube, because nobody would want to pinch it anyway.

Nicely air conditioned, too. You can't pay anyone to steal those Big Shot tubes.
