Plaster Finish

I was in Cancun Mex.
Some of their lobbies had a finish I am not familiar with. I would guess that it may be Venetain plaster. Can anyone comment on this? Plasterers are very hard to find around here and finding ways to learn it is even harder. Maybe someone knows where I can go to get some hands on training with plaster.

Re: Plaster Finish

You should have brought back some of them "southerners" with you. I doubt that Cancun imported workers from across the pond.

Re: Plaster Finish

Why are you checking out the walls?? You should just be worried about checking out the cocktail in your hand !!! You're just like me, have to look and see how everything is built and finished (I get some strange looks from people when I'm running my hands along a wall or getting on my knees to see how a floating counter is mounted) !!!

Re: Plaster Finish

I've trippped over a few things here and there when I'm in a new bulding or store. I have my heat tipped up, examining the mechanicals in the bar joists. A new building is like a big classroom to a tradesman that cares.

Years ago when I did a little woodwork the stores did not like to see ppl with rulers on them. Some ppl would take measurments with parts of their body. Elbow to wrist, waiste high, knee high, between spread of thumb and little finger, palm width, etc, and go back to shop and build .

Joe
Are you down there working or on vacation? Cause if your looking to learn about plaster send me a air plane ticket and I'll be more then happy to come down and teach you all I know about plaster and repairing it. I haven't been down there since 1995 sure would be nice to go back.
