Patching Plaster & Sheetrock....

What compound would I use as a patch to repair a joint between plaster and sheetrock?

"Some how" the towel bar magically fell off the wall in one of the tenant's apt.s ....towel bar was that old style where the bar holder was actually a tile.

I haven't been over there yet, but I am sure there is some "collateral damage" that will require some sheetrock being used...and the existing is wood lathe and plaster.

Any suggestions on the compound to use?

Simply put ...it's a rental - in and out, see ya later.
The apt. has just this one bathroom - this is neither the time nor place to "hone" anything.
I would prefer to just "get it over with" and go back to my house.

Re: Patching Plaster & Sheetrock....

5 minute durabond to prefill it but of course make sure you cut away any loose stuff first. Scrape off any sagging mud when it gets a little hard then put your mesh tape over the patch and re coat with your 5 minute durabond. Too get another minute or two out of your durabond add a squirt of green dawn dish detergent in the mud. After the durabond sets up coat with topping mud, sand, prime and paint using one of them little mini rollers with the heaviest nap you can find.
