Paint Flash After Drywall Repair

ok, an old question for sure. I have had success in the past repairing drywall and texture, painting the repair and looking good! But the last two in a row I have had the repair flash on me after painting. On one, I primed the whole ceiling and then painted and it looked like junk.
what is going on??

Re: Paint Flash After Drywall Repair

I had that problem on one new construction house, turns out I was shipped drywall from two different manufacturers, no matter what we did we couldn't get it to stop flashing. Waited about a month, used some primer again (I think Zins), than 6 guys with rollars from one end to the other no dry edges. This was about 1400 sq.ft. of ceiling all connected. Never heard boo about again.

It is very normal to have to paint in new drywall after primer. Most of the minor stuff you can't even see very well until a coat of primer has been applied. All you need to do is spot prime the patches, then apply two coats of finish and you should be fine. The repairs that look like a bunch of tiny bubbles comes from laying the mud on too heavy.
