Odd Texture

i was doing a house in New Orleans and i saw a texture that had been sprayed on, but it looked as if it had little pieces of sand in with the mud. Its not an orange peel, and its too fine to be popcorn. has anybody ever seen this or are familiar with what I am talking about?

Re: Odd Texture

I am not a mud guy, but I have had to match all different textures over my years of remodeling. I use play sand from Home Despot in texture when needed, usually it is combined with a skip trowel finish. At least that is what I call it.
