Mud Runner

Is there a way to make the flow of mud on a Mud Runner faster? The mud is just dripping out not a nice flow like it should be.
Thanks

Al, you have to thin it down,,, way down. If you try to use the same mud you been running in the corner box, it is too thick

Re: Mud Runner

It's been a long time since I used the mud runner so I don't remember if there is a place to spray wd40 to the walls and seals like we do with the other boxes. I'm sure you already tried that though...

I use wd on my boxes also. I have tried it in the clear tube of the mudrunner, doesn't seem to have any effect there. When I clean the mud runner at the end of the day, use wd on the very end of the tube, there is a slot that has a srcew and nylon bushing, that needs LOTS of wd to blast out the grim, if it builds up dirt there it will seriously impede the twist factor, which is where most of the problem of mud flow comes from. Also spray the white bushing between the tube and the twist tube

I wet it down alot. Not like tube mub, but btw box and tube mud. The guy at AMES say spray wd in the hole on the white ring on the push rod.See if that should work. Try it on monday. Just asking to see if that is other way to quick fix it.

Thanks for you help guys...

Re: Mud Runner

How thin is thin when you talk about tube mud? I currently put 2 quarts of water in the mud for my tube mud. This is pretty thin and flows great, works well with the corner roller and angle head.
Does the mud have to be thinner than this for the mudrunner?

It depends some on the mud your using, even the same brand is thicker or thinner, each batch. That being said, I use red lid national mostly. I add around two pan full of water to my tape (tube) mud and my mudrunner mud I will add about another 1/2 pan to it. In other words, when I mix tape mud up, I open 5 buckets, scoop some out into an empty buck, use almost 5 gallons of water to make 6 buckets of tape mud,, now thats THIN

Try this, the guy that got me started with the mudrunner told me. get a 1/2 bucket of mud, thin it down to almost the thickness of milk, try it in you mud runner, just squirt it back into the bucket, its too thin of course, then add some mud from a fresh bucket, try that, add more till you get the flow out of the mudrunner that you want. You won't belive how thin it needs to be for the mudrunner till you try this method and see for yourself. Just keep at it, once you get it right, you'll love your mudrunner
