Mud Question...please Help!

One of my new construction homes is having an issue with the mud buldging away from the head of the screw. If we didn't know better, it would resemble a nail pop. After removing the mud, the screws are in the drywall deep enough and correctly. Any advice or suggestions on why and how this happened???

Is your mix too dry? I've never had that problem, but you can always take care of the bulge with sandpaper.

Did you use quick-set for the first coat, it expands on screws.
