Re: Making Chicken Salad Out Of Chicken****

then the first coat of plus 3 skim coat entire wall again.

pre -filled, taped , skimed with durabond, skimmed with plus 3 , 5 hours now just have to finish coat . this is just 1 wall to demonstrate that you can repair just about anything.

Plaster will do that every time! especially if a sawzall is used...(high speed orbital and a good blade will help)... I get the best results when I use my Makita "Trim saw" it's Like a little cordless Skill saw. goes deep enough to cut the slats with no vibration!

Work looks Good Oldrivers! what did you use for edge? Plastic or metal?

Oldrivers, when did you install corner bead didn't see any in the pictures? I was wondering what size board did you use on the arch? I would have used all Durabond 90 and then finished off with topping. there would have been two coats. came out nice.

The best is they give you work like that to fix. They want it to look great. But they want a good or cheap price.

plastic, but now that its done you can see the arch isnt perfect its easy to notice after the mud is on. so now it has to be done over /

www.frankawitz.net

well first i tried to ge the wall level with durabond so the bead wouldnt get to buried then i put on the bead, locked it in with a nother tight coat of durabond then two coats of plus 3 because i always get bubbles . but now that its nice and smooth you can see the arch wasnt framed perfect and it now has to be redone . so much for the rush job i really wish they would let us frame these arches from the start.

yep ,and in this case they just didnt spend quite enough time preparing it and i was rushed through it now they have to redo the arch but atleast they can continue with the cabinets and trim etc all the other patches should fly.

Oldrivers, I use plaster bead when doing repairs like yours, standarded bead doesn't work that good with plaster walls, see if your supplier can get the plaster corner beads they cost more but they will stick out so you can line them up with the surface of the wall plaster. Any time a job is rushed something will get over looked or done wrong never fails. I find the younger the crew the faster they want to go. I've worked with guys that take their time and do Quality work, and I have worked with the Speedy crew and they get call backs and fixing things, or the customer just doesn't bother and hires someone else to fix it, cause most times it was done cheap

I have used mud on bead. And it works good. The plaster bead is it metal? The only one I have seen is metal with wire mesh on it.
