Looking For New Drywall Textures
I'm
a drywall texture contractor in Missouri. I like to specialize in custom textures and have a sample case with about 20 textures... But my regular GC's are starting to think my textures are boring after about 10 to 20 houses. Here are some pictures on our website: http://cardozaconstruction.com/index.php?option=com_rsgallery2&Itemid=31&page=sli deshow&catid=3&id=16 http://cardozaconstruction.com/index.php?option=com_rsgallery2&Itemid=31&page=sli deshow&catid=6&id=46 The site is on the beta side so excuse some of the ugly pictures So I'm looking for new custom textures... Any ideas? I've played with skip trowel, Stomp, Smooth Plaster, sand textures, sand with paint, straw, stencils, American Clay, USG plaster, Bark roller, Stipple rollers, Monterrey rollers, Daisy rollers, and all the normal spray textures like Orange Peel, and Spray Knock-down. With a million variations of all of the above. I need pictures! Ideas! What other people have done, saw and loved, etc, etc... |

How bout the old school swirl tex. It seems to be on a comeback here in the midwest. Wooden trowel sanded round with some cork attached to it works awesome. Butt joints have to be tiits though.

Swirl texture. The overlaping circles? Never thought of using a trowel... Hmm I'll have to try that I used a small broom last time I tried to match one... Actualy that one was rings! have you tried rings yet? LOL that was a challenging texture to match!

Re: Looking For New Drywall Textures
We do swirls quite a bit also. We use a wallpaper brush, they come about 12" long, but we cut them down with a saw to make the swirls any size we want. You just have to knock the excess off the brush after every several swirls to avoid build up. If I wasn't such a computard (pretty sure that's not a word - I think I just made it up) I would send pic. I might try to learn and post some tomorrow. I have samples and several rooms in my own house with it. Customers love it, and I do charge extra for it.
