Lawrence Welk Would Be Proud Of Me!

OK Pros, I need someone who is in the know to tell me what I'm doing wrong. Just haven't figured it out yet.

When I tape drywall (new) I sometimes get bubbles under my tape. Like air pockets. Is it because there is too much mud under the tape or to little. I use a 6" knife , apply a good coat of mud, then smooth over with the same knife. Do these bubbles appear because I didn't get enough mud out from under the paper or because I pulled too much out. One of these days I hope to get this one. It doesn't happen all the time and I try to do each joint the same way.

The bubbles or airpockets are where there is little or no mud underneath the tape, to bed it properly.

I must be a squeezing out too much! Less pressure when I smooth it down?

Possibly, I don't know your style. Whatever the reason, there ain't enough mud there.

Thanks, I don't know my "STYLE" either. However, I do a good job, just have to go back sometimes and re-tape those ares that bubble. Maybe, just maybe, your advice will help. Thanks

Pro-wall GuyYou were correct, no or very little mud behind the tape in these areas. I watched my step today and all looks good. Thanks for the help.
