You should put two-three coats of the primer over the knockdown.

Re: Knockdown Order

We spray the ceiling before we knock it down, and once its knocked down, its done. Some people use a oil base and spray it on once its knocked down, but its only in the bathrooms.

Re: Knockdown Order

If you don't prime first, the taped joints will absorb the moisture out of the texture faster than the areas that don't have mud on them. This will create an uneven pattern in your knockdown. Priming first eliminates this issue.

I was being sarcastic

This is pretty basic knowledge that a "Designer/Builder" should know...

Re: Knockdown Order

Just a ? on knockdown texture. Here in TN we don't do a lot of it & Its few & far between. What knife do you guys use to knock it down? I bought one of these http://http://www.texmaster.com/spectools.html & it seems to work ok. I'd like to hear what the pro's that do this everyday use since I get stuck with mostly "slick" EVERYTHING!!
