Impact Resistant Kneewall Cap

Trying to figure out something to cap a kneewall with in a mini golf course (indoors) so that it can handle getting hit with golf clubs better. Paint is peeling off right now and the mud under is like chalk. I was thinking I could cap it with some ply wood, run the corner beads and durabond but worried about adhesion. Would stapling metal lathe to the wood help? What about impact resistant drywall? They do not want a capped look; they want to keep the same drywalled look.
Any suggestions?

Thats a possibility, I could kerf the plywood with 1/8th deep cuts for extra adhesion and plaster it. Prime the plywood first?

trim-tex has a plastic corner bead made for 2x4 walls with 1/2" drywall installed on all sides, this product fits over the end wall and has both bead corners allready incorporated into it.
i like to use the trim-tex spray adhesive then staple every 6" first load with chemically setting compound (for strength) and finish with a tight skim of light finish mud.
this product is completelly impact resistant and if finished the way i described should not get any edge-crack (i'm sure major impacts/abuse might produce a hairline crack from edge of product/drywall joint).

Maybe skin it out with FRP? It's pretty indestructible.
