Re: I Lost A Stucco Repair Repaint To A Roofing Company
First off, assuming no laws are being broken....
Patience can be just as valuable as experience. I may not be able to roof as fast as someone who only does roofs, but I can certainly do just as good of a job, etc. This rule applies in many areas of construction. Everyones business develops over time. When things are booming and its harder to get good subs lined up for reasonable prices, more people we be generalists. The Company I used to work for was both a GC/Carpentry company, as well as a cabinet shop, however we had a large enough staff with enough diversity in experience to do many things, framing, windows and doors, siding, roofing, tile, flooring, cabinets, custom millwork, finishing, etc. It doesn't mean that on every job we would do it, but if the resources were there and they were available, we wouldn't sub it out. Sometimes you would win, and other times you would loose, but either way lesson learned and usually the wins were more plentiful than the losses. 2 of the guys that worked for me started out as painters/finishers, but by the time I left 5 years later, they were also very good at making cabinets. When they first started they would see my work and say I was very talented, to which my response was, its 20% talent and 80% patience. If you have the patience, you can develop the talent, and sure enough, they did. |

Re: I Lost A Stucco Repair Repaint To A Roofing Company
That's fine but what gets me is these roofers are going to do stucco repairs, how many of them do you think know about mixing up your stucco or are they going to use the kind in the bucket that you slap on foam board
, the house was built in 1924 it has portland cement, sand, lime, last year I fix a house that some painters repaired the stucco I repaired 8 panel on the front of the house and 9 panels in the back.

Re: I Lost A Stucco Repair Repaint To A Roofing Company
Now I don't know much but something I learned in this business is that if you only stick to one thing your gonna be sitting down a lot when things get slow. Now im not saying you should try to do work that you have no business doing but if you have professional experience in a field that might get you more work on a particular job I don't think you should hesitate to let the home owner know that.
