How Much To Charge For Level 5 Finish Vs Level4

Hell all....i keep getting asked to prime walls...I dont mind doing it, but customers seem to get a little upset when i tell them it will cost extra..

Just out of curiousity how much extra does everyone else charge?
I tend to go by the hour...maksing etc and materials...its around $100/ hr.

The charge would be the difference in time times your rate plus materials and markup.

Instead of telling them it will cost extra try saying sure thing, no problem. We do that all the time. Then just quote the right price.

Good Luck

usually its after the quote is given...we prime the celings before we textrue..so they figure it would be no cost to prime the walls as well...

You could make it a matter of policy to offer it as an option for $XX in every proposal going forward. Many people will thank you for thinking of it and initial their OK on the line provided. Or have them initial the no thank you line. Either way it is settled before you start.

I do this on occassion and it can either save a headache or add to your bottom line. A good example is when they tell me they will move the furniture before we start. There will be an option to have us do it with a disclaimer and a set charge. They can approve or decline, but they must to one or the other. So when we show up and "they didn't have time" there is no doubt about the extra charge.

Good Luck
Dave

I charge between 22 and 30 cents a foot for primer (materials included)

And for level 5 i use the synk pre coat thats usually between 25 and 35,

I charge more for the level 5 because it needs sanding afterwards.

I just charge what I want depending on the type and time it takes. when I talk to some people they have no idea there is even different finish levels. I just got done skim coating a room and charging an additional third!! good and easy $$$
